Draymond Green Faces Suspension After Receiving 16th Technical Foul

Draymond Green, the Golden State Warriors veteran forward, will miss the team's next game after being suspended by the NBA for exceeding the league's technical foul limit.

Draymond Green, who has been suspended for exceeding the NBA's technical foul limit, will not play against the Atlanta Hawks on Friday. The 33-year-old forward was called for his 16th technical foul in the second quarter of Wednesday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers, resulting in an automatic one-game suspension without pay under NBA rules.

Green was suspended after throwing a ball that hit Clippers point guard Russell Westbrook in the head after a Clippers bucket with 40.8 seconds left in the second quarter. Despite the possibility that the suspension could be lifted after further review, Green expressed scepticism, saying, "If that counts as a tech, then every word you say on the court counts as a tech. We'll see what happens."

Green has reached 15 technical fouls twice before, but this is the first time he has done so in his 11-year NBA career. Following their loss to the Clippers, the Warriors now sit in sixth place in the Western Conference with a 36-34 record.

Green's absence may hurt the Warriors' chances of making the playoffs, but they must play well in the remaining four games of their current five-game road trip. The NBA has also announced that any technical foul Green receives in the Warriors' final two games will result in a $5,000 fine, and any two techs will result in a one-game suspension. The Warriors are anticipating Green's return when they play the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday.

The Warriors' next game is against the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night, and it remains to be seen if Green will be available to play.
