Snake Found in AC Coach of Vasco-da-Gama Express

A terrifying incident occurred on October 21 when a snake was discovered inside an air-conditioned second-tier coach of the Vasco-da-Gama weekly express train, traveling from Jharkhand to Goa. The snake was spotted near the curtains of a lower berth, alarming passengers, who quickly recorded a video of the unusual and frightening encounter.

Ankit Kumar Sinha, whose parents were aboard the affected coach, raised the alarm on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Tagging Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and relevant authorities, Sinha shared: “Hi @IRCTCofficial @RailMinIndia Snake found in Train -17322 (Jasidih to Vasco Da Gama) on berth on date of 21st Oct. This complaint is on behalf of my parents who are travelling in AC 2 Tier -(A2 31, 33). Please take immediate action.”

Thanks to the quick response from IRCTC staff and the help of a fellow passenger, the snake was safely captured using a bedsheet. Although the video of the incident has gone viral, there is no update on the snake’s fate after its removal.

Responding to the situation, Railway Seva promptly reached out on social media, requesting the passenger to share their PNR/UTS number and mobile number through direct message for swift resolution. They also advised raising the concern through their official complaint portal or by dialing 139 for faster assistance.

Ranchi’s divisional railway authorities also acknowledged the complaint, assuring that the appropriate steps had been taken to inform the relevant authorities.
