Pune Rains Live Updates: IMD Issues ‘Red Alert’ for the City.
Following heavy overnight rains and persistent downpours, particularly in dam catchment areas, parts of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad experienced significant flooding on Thursday morning. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an ‘orange alert’ for the city. In response, two NDRF teams have been sent to Ekta Nagari in the Sinhagad Road area to assist residents trapped by waterlogging. A third NDRF team is heading to Warje.
Four fatalities have been reported due to the severe weather. Three individuals were electrocuted by water in Pulachi Wadi, Deccan Gymkhana, and a fourth person, a restaurant staffer, died and another was injured in a landslide in Adarwadi village, Maval tehsil.

In light of the situation, Pune city and surrounding areas, including Pimpri-Chinchwad, Bhor, Velhe, Maval, Mulshi, and Khadakwasla, have closed schools. Collector Suhas Diwase also ordered the closure of all tourist spots, and private offices and industrial units are encouraged to follow suit. The Pavana Dam, a key water source for Pimpri-Chinchwad, was at 58% capacity by Wednesday afternoon.
