Ticket sales for ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ kicked off on Sunday, June 23, and the Prabhas-led film has already clocked approximately 270,000 bookings within a single day.

Over 2.7 lakh tickets have already been sold for the opening day of ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ in India. A huge record sales business is being eyed for by the Nag Ashwin directorial, with the South markets leading so far, particularly in Telugu-speaking areas, where Prabhas is arguably one of the biggest superstars.

Starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani in important roles, the film is appealing to the pan-India audience. It is considered a one-of-a-kind film, with the makers calling it a genre-defining drama that combines science fiction and mythology.

As reported by the trade website sancilk, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ has sold 2,73,054 tickets on Sunday across the country, resulting in a pre-sales business of Rs 7.95 crore gross so far. Advance booking has opened up in almost the entire South Indian market, with more screens gradually opening for sales in the northern regions.

The pre-sales business is being led by the Telugu market, with the 2D version selling 1.5 lakh tickets, the 3D version selling 1.03 lakh tickets, and the IMAX 3D version selling 1.01 lakh tickets on Sunday alone. The Tamil versions have collectively sold over two thousand tickets, contributing Rs 5,06,672 to the advance total for day one.

While the Hindi market is currently slow, it is expected to actively contribute to the advance booking business as Friday approaches. On Sunday, the 2D version sold 1687 tickets, while the 3D version sold close to 10,000 tickets. The IMAX 3D version grossed over Rs 3.77 lakh after selling around 700 tickets until Sunday, June 23.

‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is anticipated to witness a significant surge in its pre-sales business over the week. The second trailer and pre-release events held last week have successfully contributed to the buzz surrounding its release, and the same is expected to be reflected in advance bookings. The film is scheduled for release on June 27.
