Maruti Suzuki Recalls 2,500+ Alto K10 Units Due to Steering Gearbox Assembly Fault.
Maruti Suzuki, a name synonymous with ‘Small Reliable Cars,’ has long been a leading carmaker in India. Recently, the company announced a recall of 2,555 units of the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 hatchback due to a faulty steering gearbox assembly. The company is reaching out to owners of affected vehicles to arrange a voluntary inspection.
The potential issues with the faulty steering gearbox assembly include misalignment, excessive play, and even complete failure, which can adversely affect the car’s drivability and handling. Owners of these vehicles are advised not to drive them until they have been inspected at a Maruti Suzuki service center. If the component is found to be defective, it will be replaced at no cost.
The Alto K10 remains Maruti Suzuki’s most budget-friendly model in India, with prices starting at ₹3.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base LXI trim and going up to ₹5.96 lakh. It features a 1.0L three-cylinder petrol engine, available with either a 5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission, and offers an optional factory-fitted CNG kit. The Alto K10 boasts impressive fuel efficiency, with a claimed mileage of 24.39 kmpl with the manual transmission, 24.90 kmpl with the automatic, and 33.85 km/kg with CNG.
