Manu also became only the second Indian woman, following P.V. Sindhu, to win two Olympic medals.

On Tuesday at the Paris Olympics, Manu Bhaker made history as the first Indian woman to win multiple medals in a single Games. She secured a bronze in the 10m pistol mixed team event with Sarabjot Singh, overcoming South Korea 16-10.

Earlier, Manu kickstarted India’s medal tally at the 2024 Olympics with a bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol event. With these achievements, she joins P.V. Sindhu as only the second Indian woman to earn two Olympic medals. Sindhu became the first in this category after clinching bronze in Tokyo 2020, following her silver medal performance in Rio 2016.

India has now won two of its six Olympic medals in shooting at Paris 2024. The last time Indian shooters achieved two medals in a single Olympics was in London 2012, with Gagan Narang winning bronze in the men’s 10m air rifle and Vijay Kumar earning silver in the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol. No shooting medals were secured at Rio 2016 or Tokyo 2020.Manu is also set to compete in the women’s 25m pistol event, which begins on Friday.
