On Its Third Day, ‘Chandu Champion’ Scores Big at the Box Office, Achieving Double-Digit Earnings under Kabir Khan’s Direction.

Kabir Khan’s “Chandu Champion” Picks Up Speed on Sunday, Earns Rs 10 Crore; Eyes Strong Eid Monday

After a sluggish start on Friday, June 14, Kartik Aaryan starrer biographical sports drama, “Chandu Champion,” directed by Kabir Khan, witnessed a significant surge in box office collections on its first Sunday, June 16. The film’s earnings jumped by nearly 40 per cent from Saturday, totaling Rs 10 crore.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the total box office collection for “Chandu Champion” after its initial three days stands at Rs 21.75 crore. The film opened with Rs 4.75 crore on Friday and followed with Rs 7 crore on Saturday. Sunday saw an overall 32.47 per cent occupancy rate in Hindi cinemas, peaking during the evening shows.

With Monday marking Eid, “Chandu Champion” has the opportunity to sustain its momentum at the box office. However, it will soon face competition from Nag Ashwin’s highly anticipated release, “Kalki 2898 AD,” hitting theaters on June 27. Additionally, it contends with the horror-comedy “Munjya,” which has already surpassed the Rs 50 crore mark.

Despite Sunday’s uptick, “Chandu Champion” marks Kartik Aaryan’s second-lowest weekend total since his debut film “Pyar Ka Punchnama.” Preceding “Chandu Champion,” his 2023 release “Shehzada” earned Rs 20.20 crore in its opening weekend. Comparatively, “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2,” Aaryan’s first post-pandemic film, grossed Rs 55.96 crore, while “Satyaprem Ki Katha” garnered Rs 37.35 crore over its opening weekend.

However, “Chandu Champion” benefits from positive word of mouth. IndiaToday.in awarded the film a 3-star rating, praising Kabir Khan’s storytelling for its inspirational message about heroism and perseverance.

The film’s cast includes Vijay Raaz, Brijendra Kala, Rajpal Yadav, and Bhuvan Arora.
