Director Nag Ashwin responded to Arshad Warsi’s remarks about Prabhas’ role in ‘Kalki 2898 AD.’ Additionally, he voiced support for a more unified Indian film industry.

Nag Ashwin, director of Kalki 2898 AD, responded to Arshad Warsi’s recent comments on Prabhas’s performance in the film. Warsi had referred to Prabhas as a ‘joker’ during a podcast, expressing disappointment with his portrayal. The controversy ignited when a fan shared a clip of Prabhas from the film, criticizing the scene compared to Bollywood’s combined efforts. Ashwin took to social media to address the situation.

In his response, Ashwin emphasized the need to move beyond regional and industry rivalries, urging fans to focus on the larger picture of a unified Indian film industry. He suggested that Arshad Warsi could have chosen his words more carefully but maintained a positive tone, even extending a gesture of goodwill by sending toys for Warsi’s children. Ashwin wrote on X, “Let’s not go backwards… no more north-south or bolly vs tolly… eyes on the bigger picture… United Indian Film Industry. Arshad saab should have chosen his words better, but it’s ok. Sending buji toys for his kids. I’ll work hard so that tweets for the first day first show say Prabhas was the best ever in K2.”

In a follow-up response to a user’s accusation that Warsi was spreading hate, Ashwin replied, “Too much hate in the world already bro… we can try not to add to it. I know Prabhas garu will also feel the same.”

The controversy began when Arshad Warsi, on a podcast, criticized Prabhas’s role in Kalki 2898 AD, stating he resembled a ‘joker’ and expressed a desire for a more intense performance. Warsi did acknowledge Amitabh Bachchan’s role as Ashwatthama as a highlight of the film. His comments sparked backlash from fans and celebrities alike, who accused him of spreading negativity.
