The Indian hockey team triumphed over Ireland in their third Pool B match at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The Indian hockey team secured a victory over Ireland in their third Pool B match at the Paris 2024 Olympics on Tuesday.

Captain Harmeet Singh was the standout performer, scoring both goals for India. With these two goals, he now leads the goal-scoring chart at the Olympics with a total of four.

India dominated from the outset despite having played a challenging match against Argentina the previous day. Just before the first quarter ended, Mandeep was fouled inside the box, earning India a penalty stroke. Harmeet confidently converted it in the 11th minute to give India the lead.

In the 19th minute, Harmeet struck again from a penalty corner, doubling India’s advantage.

Goalkeeper Sreejesh, who had struggled in the previous matches, delivered a solid performance, effectively thwarting Ireland’s attempts and ensuring a clean sheet for India.

India will next face Belgium on August 1st, with the top four teams advancing to the next round. Currently, India leads the table with seven points from three matches, while Belgium sits in second place with six points.
