Krafton, the maker of BGMI and PUBG, confirmed two new games for the Indian market during a recent visit to the company's office in Seoul, South Korea. The first game is Defense Derby, a mobile-only title created by Krafton's RisingWings. The Callisto Protocol, a third-person shooter title developed by Krafton's Striking Distance Studios, is exclusive to PCs and gaming consoles. New State Mobile by Krafton is still available for download in India on Android and iOS smartphones. While PUBG (and BGMI) are still banned in the country for security reasons, the desktop version is still playable via Steam.

On the sidelines of the G-Star 2022 gaming event in Busan, South Korea, Krafton also announced the global release of The Callisto Protocol and Defense Derby. The Callisto Protocol will be available worldwide, including in India, on December 2, while Defense Derby will be available early next year. Moonbreaker, another Krafton PC title, is now available for early access on Steam. The full version's details are currently unknown.

The Callisto Protocol and Defense Derby

Both Krafton titles are distinct from the existing battle royale-style games BGMI, PUGB, and New State Mobile. The Callisto Protocol is a third-person survival horror game set in the year 300. It takes place on Callisto, Jupiter's second-largest moon, with players taking on the role of Jacob Lee. "Jacob will need to adapt his tactics to combat the rapidly evolving creatures while scavenging to unlock new weapons, gear, and abilities to outrun the growing threat and escape the horrors of Jupiter's Dead Moon," according to the game's official Steam page.

The Callisto Protocol was first announced in June of this year, and it will be available for the Sony PlayStation 4 and 5 series, the Xbox One, the Xbox Series X and Series S, and the PC. It is currently available for pre-order on Steam for Rs 2,499.

Defense Derby, on the other hand, is a smartphone game and real-time strategic defence mobile game in which players must create a deck and defend their castle in the main PvP (player-versus-player) mode. Users will need to obtain cards through an auction system in order to build a powerful deck.

What to look forward to in Krafton's The Callisto Protocol and Defense Derby

Rafael Lim, Head of Publishing at Krafton, told India Today Tech that the new games will help the company expand its portfolio and become a global publisher. "PUBG is our main IP, and we are now leapfrogging to be a global publisher," he said on the sidelines of G-Star 2022. He continued, "In addition to these [The Callisto Protocol and Defense Derby], we are keeping an eye on the marketing for new IPs. We've established more studios and are working on new titles ".

Krafton anticipates releasing at least three new titles in the coming years. The company also claims to be working with the government to bring BGMI (Battlegrounds Mobile India) back to India.
