New Delhi: In a significant breakthrough, security forces shot dead 30 Maoists during an operation along the Narayanpur-Dantewada border in Chhattisgarh today, marking one of the most substantial victories in the region’s anti-insurgency efforts, sources confirmed.
The operation, led by the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the Special Task Force (STF), began yesterday. The first contact with the Maoists occurred at around 12:30 PM today. Reports suggest that the encounter is still ongoing.
A large cache of weapons, including AK-series rifles, was recovered from the site, adding to the operation’s success.
Based on intelligence indicating heavy Maoist presence, joint teams were dispatched to comb through villages in Govel, Nendur, and Thulthuli under the jurisdiction of Orcha and Barsur police stations. The encounter broke out near the forests of Nendur-Thulthuli earlier today.
Security forces are cautiously tracking down the remaining insurgents who have retreated deeper into the dense forest area.
This operation stands as a major milestone in the ongoing fight against Maoist insurgency in Chhattisgarh, a region long affected by extremist activity.
