Ektaa Kapoor took to Instagram to share a video of the film Laila Majnu, revealing that its lifetime collection from 2018 has been surpassed in just four days of its re-release.

Bollywood actors Tripti Dimri and Avinash Tiwari’s film Laila Majnu initially hit theatres in 2018, but it struggled at the box office. Directed by Sajid Ali and co-written and produced by Imtiaz Ali, the film sold just 150,000 tickets during its first run. However, after its re-release last Friday, the film has experienced a remarkable resurgence.

The re-release has been a notable success, with 200,000 tickets sold in just four days. Ekta Kapoor, who, alongside Imtiaz Ali, facilitated the re-release, shared her excitement on social media, noting, “The wait is over, and the time has come for Laila Majnu. In its first release, we sold 150,000 tickets. In just four days of the re-release, we’ve sold 200,000, with Monday’s numbers surpassing Friday’s. Double congratulations to the team!”

The film’s earnings reflect this newfound success. While it made only Rs 2.18 crore during its initial run, the re-release has already generated Rs 30 lakh, buoyed by special National Cinema Lover’s Day ticket pricing. Earnings continued to rise, with Rs 5 lakh on Saturday, Rs 1 crore on Sunday, and Rs 70 lakh on Monday.

Audiences are now flocking to theatres to see Laila Majnu, which features extensive shooting in Jammu and Kashmir. Produced by Imtiaz Ali’s ex-wife Preeti and Ekta Kapoor, the film also marked the Bollywood debuts of Dimri and Tiwari.
