The ‘Sarfira’ Trailer Released Today, Showcasing Akshay Kumar’s Ambitious Plan to Launch a New Airline for India’s ‘Common Man.

Akshay Kumar takes on a mission in ‘Sarfira’, portraying a villager with a dream to launch his own airline, making air travel accessible for the ‘aam aadmi’ (ordinary people) from his village and beyond. Set against the backdrop of the startup and aviation industries, the film also stars Paresh Rawal, Radhika Madan, and Seema Biswas. Directed by Sudha Kongara, ‘Sarfira’ is set to release on July 12.

In ‘Sarfira’, Akshay Kumar leads the film directed by Sudha Kongara, who also helmed the Tamil original, ‘Soorarai Pottru’, starring Suriya. Akshay’s character faces numerous challenges, including financial hurdles, to secure a meeting with a business tycoon, played by Paresh Rawal, who owns the largest airline in the country. After facing rejection and insults, Akshay’s character resolves to achieve his dream independently, even proposing ₹1 flight tickets to make air travel affordable for everyone.

Sharing the trailer on Instagram, Akshay wrote, “Sapne woh nahi jo aap sote huye dekhte hain, sapne woh hote hain jo aapko sone hi nahi dete. Ek aise hi sapne ki kahani hai Sarfira (Dreams are not what come to you in your sleep; they are the reason you cannot sleep).”

In February 2024, Akshay announced ‘Sarfira’ on Instagram, sharing the film’s first look with the caption, “Dream so Big, they call you crazy!”

‘Sarfira’ is written by Sudha Kongara and Shalini Ushadevi, with dialogues by Pooja Tolani. It is produced by Aruna Bhatia (Cape of Good Films), Suriya and Jyotika (2D Entertainment), and Vikram Malhotra (Abundantia Entertainment).

According to a statement, “Sarfira is set to inspire the common man to dream big and chase their dreams even if the world calls them crazy. It is a uniquely Indian story of grit, determination, and jugad, showcasing an underdog challenging the socio-economic fabric of a system entrenched in class, caste, and power dynamics.”

Akshay Kumar was last seen in ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ alongside Tiger Shroff.
