Actor and influencer Avneet Kaur is under fire from an Indian jewelry brand for failing to credit them in her social media posts, despite a prior commitment to do so.
Avneet Kaur is facing allegations of breaching a contract with a jewellery brand.
Actor and social media influencer Avneet Kaur is facing allegations from the jewellery brand Rang for failing to meet her brand promotion commitments. Rang shared screenshots of their communication with Kaur on Instagram, where she had agreed to promote their jewellery in exchange for the pieces she wore during a recent European trip.
According to Rang’s post, Kaur had promised to tag the brand in her social media posts after receiving nine pieces of their jewellery, including double floral earrings, a twisted loop handcuff bracelet, and leaf motif earrings. The actor reportedly wore these pieces seven times with outfits from luxury labels like Dior and Vivienne Westwood.
However, Rang claims Kaur only tagged high-end brands and not them, implying that she may have sourced her accessories from these brands instead. When Rang’s team reached out through Kaur’s stylist, the actor allegedly responded, “Hey, I will pay them. How much is it?”
After Kaur’s return from Europe, Rang sent her an invoice for the jewellery and requested payment. Kaur then reportedly contradicted herself, stating that she would not pay because the arrangement was a collaboration and claiming she had worn the jewellery fewer than 10 times. She insisted on only posting an Instagram story.
Akanksha Negi from Rang expressed frustration, saying, “This was a horrible experience with an influencer. The exploitation of small business brands and stylists by some celebrities and influencers is infuriating. Just because they have a large following on social media does not give them the right to exploit us. We might be a small business brand, but we won’t accept this attitude and behaviour.”
Mittal Brahmbhatt, owner of The Closet, a clothing brand, also reported a similar issue with Kaur. Brahmbhatt revealed, “I reached out to Akanksha because I had a similar problem with Avneet Kaur. She sourced clothes from my brand with a verbal agreement to post photos wearing the outfits and credit our brand. Despite receiving the package, she did not post anything for months. After nearly six months, she finally made a post, but by then, the collection had sold out and we had no plans to restock, making the post ineffective for our brand.”
Attempts to reach Avneet and her team for comment were unsuccessful. However, her stylist confirmed that Avneet has been unresponsive regarding payment issues.
Avneet Kaur began her acting career in 2012 with the TV show Meri Maa and gained prominence with her role in the 2023 film Tiku Weds Sheru. She has also appeared in TV shows like Ek Mutthi Aasmaan, Savitri – Ek Prem Kahani, Chandra Nandini, and Aladdin – Naam Toh Suna Hoga. Her recent appearance at the Cannes Film Festival also drew significant attention.
