In a historic development, former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja has been named the next Jam Saheb of Jamnagar, a prestigious title in the royal lineage of Nawanagar, Gujarat. The announcement came from the current Jam Saheb, Shatrusalyasinhji Digvijaysinhji Jadeja, who expressed his joy and called this a blessing for the people of Jamnagar.
The statement, released on the auspicious occasion of Dussehra, highlighted the significance of the festival, traditionally believed to mark the day the Pandavas emerged victorious from exile. “I am delighted that Ajay Jadeja will take on the mantle of Jam Saheb of Nawanagar. It is a moment of pride and joy for our community,” said Shatrusalyasinhji.
Ajay Jadeja, a former vice-captain of the Indian cricket team, played a key role in Indian cricket from 1992 to 2000. His career was marred by a match-fixing scandal, which led to a ban from the sport. However, the Delhi High Court lifted the ban in 2003, and while Jadeja did not return to international cricket, he transitioned into a successful mentorship role for IPL teams and served as a coach for the Afghanistan cricket team.
The news of his royal appointment has created a wave of excitement, as Jadeja now steps into a leadership role that blends his sporting legacy with the rich history of Nawanagar.
