In a tragic incident in Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir, two Army jawans were kidnapped during an anti-terror operation on Wednesday. One soldier managed to escape despite suffering bullet injuries, while the other was found dead in a nearby forest.

Police sources reported that an Indian Army soldier was discovered dead with bullet wounds after being abducted by terrorists in Anantnag district on October 9. The jawans, part of the 161 unit of the Territorial Army, were kidnapped during a joint operation launched by the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police on October 8.

The injured soldier was quickly transported to a medical facility, where he is currently in stable condition. The body of the deceased soldier, identified as Hilal Ahmad Bhat, was recovered from the Pathribal forest area.

In response to the incident, a large-scale operation has been initiated by the Army and local police to locate the terrorists involved. The Indian Army’s Srinagar-based Chinar Core stated that the counter-terrorist operation began based on intelligence reports, continuing overnight as one soldier was reported missing.

This incident follows previous attacks in the region, including an encounter in August that resulted in the deaths of two soldiers and injuries to three others, as well as a deadly clash in Doda district that claimed the lives of four Army personnel and a police officer. The attack in Doda was attributed to the ‘Kashmir Tigers,’ a proxy group affiliated with the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).
