Mumbai: Industrialist and philanthropist Ratan Tata has reassured the public about his health after being admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at Breach Candy Hospital due to a sudden drop in blood pressure on Monday morning. In a statement shared on Instagram, the 86-year-old icon downplayed concerns, saying, “There is no cause for concern.”

Addressing circulating rumors, Tata wrote, “I am aware of the recent speculation about my health. I want to assure everyone that these claims are baseless. I am undergoing routine medical check-ups due to my age and associated conditions, but I remain in good spirits.”

In his message, Tata also urged the public and media to avoid spreading misinformation. A similar post was shared on X (formerly Twitter) with the message, “Thank you for thinking of me.”

Ratan Tata, known for his humanitarian efforts, is the great-grandson of Jamsetji Tata, the founder of the Tata Group, one of the world’s largest conglomerates. With a diverse portfolio spanning industries like automotive, aerospace, steel, IT, real estate, and more, Tata Group has become a global powerhouse under his leadership. Ratan Tata served as Chairman twice, from 1991 to 2012 and briefly from 2016 to 2017. Even after stepping down from active leadership, he continues to oversee the company’s charitable trusts.

A recipient of India’s highest civilian honors, the Padma Bhushan (2000) and Padma Vibhushan (2008), Tata has become a beloved figure on social media in his retirement. Known for his posts advocating animal rights and encouraging Indian unity, he has amassed a huge following—over 13 million on X and nearly 10 million on Instagram—making him India’s most-followed entrepreneur, according to the 360 ONE Wealth Hurun India Rich List 2023.
